Abstract

Background: many researchers are trying to identify criteria or markers of psychological well-being and mental health disorders within the framework of the new and powerful phenomenon of society digitalization. Summarizing the results of these searches is relevant. The Aim of review was to analyze current scienti c publications on different aspects of society digitalization impact on psychological well-being and mental health of adolescents including the role of digital forms of leisure and gami ed technologies of educational programs. It was intended to consider hypotheses concerning brain morphological and autonomic nervous system (ANS) functional mechanisms of mental disorders due to digital addiction. Material and Methods: using keywords “digitalization”, “educational gami cation”, “digital addiction”, “mental disorders”, “psychological well-being”, “stress”, “adolescence” the source for foreign and Russian articles was realized in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Shcolare, eLibrary in recent 10 years. The list of 85 selected articles included those with following terms in their annotations and/or. Conclusions: all researchers indicate that digitalization of public life has a complex and ambiguous impact on adolescents' mental health and psychological well-being, including through over-involvement in digital leisure. Teenagers' over-involvement in digital environments, to detriment of communication and socialization in real society, creates a risk of developing Internet addictions and mental disorders in forms of anxiety or/and depressive disorders. Depression and digital addiction, reduced stress tolerance of adolescents, affecting the brain and the autonomic nervous system, manifests itself in certain symptom complexes of emotional and cognitive signs. Some researchers consider a hypothesis of prefrontal cortex and ANS interested in digital addiction, stress and depressive disorders in adolescents.
